Severe storms to hit the Corn Belt

Eric Snodgrass
Senior Atmospheric Scientist

Strong to severe storms are expected across a large section of the Corn Belt today and tomorrow (shown below). Abundant Gulf of Mexico moisture will stream north and fuel repeated rounds of storms. Keep a very close eye on the radar and watch for strong straight-line winds. Looking a little longer term, above average temperatures are forecast to return to the Central US around the 4th-5th of July. We will be watching the position of the ridge that will allow this heat to push north very closely throughout all of July.
