Thunderstorms to hit IL, IA, and IN this week

Severe storms erupted out west through the Great Plains on Monday, and the threat for severe weather pushes east through the week. A deep trough in the Northern Plains is forecasted to give the corn belt its best chance for rain for the middle and end of this week. Some regions in IL, IA, and IN have been very dry for the last 10-20 days, and rain is needed to keep the 2017 crop on track.

Thunderstorms are expected for these states Wednesday–Friday and potentially again over the weekend. These storms will be hit or miss, as all summer storm systems typically are, so keep an eye on your field-level precipitation data in your Morning Farm Report account. After this system passes through, we transition back to a pattern with a lot less heat.
